Once you get the finger movements along the fret buttons (the guitar buttons you push to strum out tunes), one of the hardest parts of playing Guitar Hero is catching the rhythm. Guitar Hero won’t instantly make you a real life rock star, but it can teach you some fundamentals of guitar playing. With the Rocksmith method, all it takes is just an hour a day for 60 days.

Now with advances in technology, there is a better, faster way to learn guitar. How long does it take to learn guitar with Rocksmith? Just look up any Rocksmith video and you’ll see what it looks like. Rocksmith uses its own weird system that seems to be inspired by Guitar Hero. But if you just want to rock out and play some songs, Rocksmith is great. It’s great for learning to play songs that you like, or nailing a certain riff you want, but it’s not a substitute for actually learning to play the guitar.

Additionally you will ideally want a second monitor, because if any window or program moves in front of the capture area, it will be displayed on the video stream.
